I purchased a couple of outdoor wildlife cameras to capture the kinds of visitors we may be having. After reviewing footage today from the past couple of weeks, Coyotes have been visiting us more than we think. Here’s pictures from just this week alone.

Well, after four months I don’t think Milo has much interest in Maya. Unfortunate but I guess just like with humans not every couple will like each other. But Maya keeps dishing out eggs and then spending relentless hours caring for them. Only to get nothing in the end. We started to feel sorry for her now. So, back to the pet store we went and returned with young male who looks a lot like Maya. Welcome Nobu (のぶ). On his first day with us he is already serenading us with a young song. But he’ll get better and stronger as he matures.

I didn’t notice until we got home that he doesn’t have a birth bracelet. Either the breeder missed him or perhaps it fell off and they didn’t notice soon enough. So, unfortunately we don’t know for sure how old he is. But I’d say 6 months to a year old.

We were very sad to learn about the passing of Deniz’ uncle, Vehap Dino, yesterday. Vehap is the older brother of Deniz’ father, Demir. Our condolences to the entire Dino family during this difficult time.

We got confirmation that Maya is a girl. She laid a couple of eggs yesterday. They’re not fertilized so they would only be good for a couple of very small omelettes. Unfortunately too they both broke on the bottom. Time for her to meet Milo.

After matching Zozo with a mate, we were now thinking of doing the same with his son, Milo. So, off to a canary seller we went and returned with a pretty female canary. We’ve named her Maya and hope she will like Milo. Welcome Maya!

After our first gazebo weathered away after five good years, we could not have asked for more from it. It was only $150 to begin with from a year end sale at Superstore. A true bargain! This time, we wanted something more durable for its replacement. We sought out different types and also considered building one from scratch. But we found a nice cedar frame gazebo with aluminum roof from Costco. The only problem is they were sold out all summer and we were not able to get it until mid September. I invited a couple friends over and we assembled the main structure and completed most of the roof framing. Unfortunately we were missing two pieces of the roof frame. Yardistry Structures was quick in sending me the missing parts. It was at our door the next day. But, for a few weekends afterwards we were unable to gather enough friends over to complete the assembly. We ended up hiring a service to complete the job. Pricing was very good and they did a great job. Here’s a sneak peak at our new gazebo!

I wasn't home today when the Snowbirds flew over Halton Hills but I just happened to be outside at work on a break when they flew over our building.

We first bought this peach in the spring of 2013. That year we had about 20 peaches but lost all but 2 of them to what we believe were raccoons. Then, we had three summers of nothing at all. This spring was very different. Our weeping cherry tree which had also been purchased in 2013 and had also never bloomed gave us quite show of blossoms. Our peach tree has given us close to 30 peaches so far. Many are not perfect having bug holes and perhaps bird bites in them. Some grew around branches awkwardly deforming them. But they taste great. Sweet and juicy!

Deniz' last day in Dubai, she and her colleagues after work went to see the mega tower there – Burj al Khalifa – and the huge Dubai Mall which is estimated to be triple the size of West Edmonton Mall.

Here are some of her pics of Burj al Khalifa.

And from up on the 125th floor observation deck.

Deniz enjoyed dinner with her colleagues. Here's some pictures she took down by the water.
