    Deniz returned yesterday safe and sound…..pretty tired but already wanting to return to Japan. She brought me back a few really nice gifts. I will definitely enjoy them all.

    Just to recap, on Tuesday, Deniz’ training was a bit dry. She said it was tough to stay alert and some people were nodding off. A few locals left. After work a few if them went out for dinner at another Japanese restaurant (pictures of food in previous post). After dinner she had a little time to go shopping in the underground mall and at street level shops.

    On Wednesday, training session was better. Quicker pace and more interesting. After work, one of the Japanese Directors there took their group of 43 out to dinner at a restaurant owned by Toshiba/GE. The dinner consisted of a 10 course meal. The dishes were small though but surprisingly was quite filling. She sat beside the Director and impressed him and a few others with some of the Japanese she knows. “Oishi desu!”. They asked how she learned, and told them that she became interested because she’s married to a “yonsei”. She was asked if I had a Japanese name but sadly I don’t. She has taken many pictures and will send soon.

    After dinner, a large group went to go look for a bar to continue drinking. She went with a smaller group for ice cream.

    Just spoke with Deniz. She is going to sleep and I’m a couple of hours into my work day.

    Her first training day went alright. They are across the street from the Yokohama train station. So, there’s an underground tunnel from the hotel to the train station. On the subway they go, squishing on. Two stops and then switch subways. Then just a couple more stops and they are at their stop. She said people push and squeeze on but will readily make a pathway to let you off.

    They had Italian today for dinner. Deniz said the pizza was amazing! It was really thin crust but done perfectly.

    Deniz mentioned that her group decided to not go to Mount Fuji since it was not a clear day there. They decided instead to go to Kamakura. On the way back their group of about 5 was short in cash. They discovered that the train station only accepts cash. So off they went to find a bank machine. Unfortunately the machine would not accept their cards. Without having cash to get back to Yokohama they took a taxi. That opened another challenge as the driver did not understand much English. They also did not have the details of their hotel. But eventually, they sorted it out and returned.

    Konbonwa,

    After 12:45 hours in flight, 1:30 in train, 20 min looking for underground pass I finally made it to the hotel room. Used heated toilet and had the first authentic Sushi of this trip so far.

    Oishi desu!
