I wonder when some suburbs are going to stop building and cramming people in.  Studies have shown that when you crowd animals, their behavior changes and they become aggressive.  Humans are no different.  And this is why our roads are becoming a war zone.  Everyone is driving so aggressively nowadays with no respect for one another.  As long as they keep building and crowding people in, the situation is only going to get worse.  All these new neighborhoods are popping up with houses all crammed together in tight little streets. So people live crammed together and commute around all crammed together.  One of the things I have learned after moving out of Brampton and into Halton Hills is that having space has enabled me to be calmer and more relaxed.

Brampton used to be such a nice suburb.  Thanks to the Mayor who takes perks on the side, the once nice area is turning into a city like Toronto.  Originally, there was not to be any tall buildings in Brampton but now there is already a high rise near the downtown core.  There is also the crazy situation with the builder for the land at Conestoga and Sandalwood Parkway who wants to build high rise condos and a townhouse complex.  That area is already over crowded and they want to cram in about 5000 more people into that corner.  Ridiculous!!  It’s such a shame to see the place I grew up get ruined like this.  It’s why I have now left…..

Why is it that it seems to be a fashion for people to tailgate and push these days?  One of the things that I really hate about driving a car now is how annoying and intimidating it can sometimes be to have someone following so close.  The other thing I cannot stand is how they also hang off to the side a bit so that you can see them in the side mirror.  I just hate that.  So, one thing I have done is to shift the angle of both side mirrors out a tad.  Just enough so that when I’m sitting in my normal driving position I cannot see anyone who may be hanging off to the side.  If I need to see, I just lean slightly.  To deal with the tailgaters, I flip my mirror to night mode.  This way, only the hint of their headlights appear and everything else is either not seen or much less noticeable and bothersome.  When someone follows too closely, I slow down.  I find this makes them back off or pass.  I find this is a non-aggressive way to really get under their skin.  There’s a lot of crazy people out there and generally drivers are more aggressive behind the wheel than they used to be.

But I don’t understand why people need to push and follow so close.  It’s such a ridiculous sight to what a train of 5 cars all following each other too closely and all constantly stepping on the brakes.  I just hang back disassociate myself from that.  Crazy.
