Welcome Spring

Sure glad it’s finally spring!!……er….maybe Mother Nature should be told.  Woke up with power outages due to snow, freezing rain and ice pellets.  WHOOHOO….SPRING!!

7 Years

Hard to believe it’s been 7 years, Dad.  Hope you are enjoying some fishing and catching a few like the one you caught below.

Snow

The snow is deeper than it looks in the picture.  And, it all came overnight.  Yesterday, there was no snow in the ground.

Holy Snow

Just two days ago on Sunday it was like spring.  It was a nice sunny day that reached 15 degrees.   Who would think barely 48 hrs later a storm would wipe that all away.  The temperature dropped to -8 and we woke up to about 20cms of snow.  Next week it’s going back up to around 10 degrees so the up and down stuff continues.

Passing of Yojo

We have heavy hearts again today as we lost the older of the two canary children, Yojo.  This loss was sudden and unexpected.  He’s been fine until last night where he seemed a little off. He occasionally fell while jumping from one perch to the next. I watched him closely and he otherwise seemed fine.  I thought maybe he hurt his foot or something.  And he may well have but ended up getting too worked up while struggling around.  He was fine when I left for work but unfortunately again for Deniz she made the sad discovery after uncovering the bird cages after I left.

He didn’t quite make his second birthday.  Since the fall, He had emerged as a real strong singer. We will really miss him. One of those puzzling things we will never know why.

RIP Yojo – March 9, 2014 – Feb 11, 2016

Winters Back

Snow fell last night and stayed in the trees making our backyard view look quite picturesque.

Back home

We’ve been back a few days now and we miss the Big Island.  My trip summary is coming.  I’ve been looking through the 1000+ pictures I took as well as the 50+\- videos.  My GoPro investment proved to be a great one.

I forgot to post this before.  It’s my luggage tag.

Stay tuned for my trip summary.

Farewell Big Island

After returning back to our hotel to meet back up with our friends, we thought we’d enjoy one last Mai Tai and burger by the pool.  Unfortunately, the pool bar was closed at that time.  It was to re-open 30mibs later but we needed to get something and stay on track with time.  We decided to go to the mall that’s close by and get something quick from the food court.  I had a grilled mahi mahi burger and Deniz enjoyed a burger.  Our final drive to the airport gave us one last spectacular sunset.

Visit to Marriott

We drove over to the Marriott where we honeymoon’ to look around.  They expanded the beach and changed a few things.  We decided to walk the trail between the Marriott and Hilton complexes.  The waves were quite large (10-12′ ) and there were surfers out.  We watched for a bit and continued on. Last time there had been a tree swing that we thought was pretty neat.  The coast had changed a bit and the old one was not around any longer but there was a new one.  Pretty neat.  I took photos with my main camera.  The views were quite impressive and we both were glad we took this stroll to our familiar place.  Brought back memories from last time.

Last Day

It’s a cloudy cool morning for our last day, except for a clearing where the moon is showing itself.  We can barely see the mountains so it could also be a lot of volcanic gas.
